Membership
During the course of a year, the Alzheimer Society gratefully receives many contributions, both large and small. In fact, we have a long list of people who have supported the work of the Society in the past. Yet, surprisingly, we have only a little over 100 actual members of the Alzheimer Society of Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District. These are people who have committed their support to the Society through the purchase of a membership.
The Alzheimer Society welcomes and encourages memberships not only from individuals but also from long-term care homes, service clubs, seniors' clubs, professional groups, businesses, students, and retired persons. Anyone with an interest in the well-being of individuals with Alzheimer's disease is encouraged to take out a membership.
There are approximately 1,900 individuals in Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District affected by Alzheimer's disease or related dementias. In the years to come, this number is expected to double. A large membership base ensures the voices of all those who are affected by this disease in our community - individuals, caregivers, families, and health care professionals - will be heard through the Alzheimer Society of Sault Ste. Marie.
Numbers DO make a difference!
A substantial membership base allows us to budget more certainly and plan for the future. It also gives us a stronger voice at the community level and at the table of our provincial organization.
It costs so little, but by purchasing your membership there is so much gain for our Society.
Your membership enables us to increase our resources and to continue to expand our much-needed programs and services which we offer free of charge to those in need in our community.
Your membership, for which you will receive a charitable receipt, entitles you to receive our Society newsletter that keeps you up to date on the work of the Society. The newsletter will also give you updates on important news about Alzheimer's disease and related disorders from across Canada and the world. In addition, our members are assured that their dollars work hard all year long to provide support, education, research, and advocacy for those affected by Alzheimer Disease.
